Education in India is facing challenges of equality in access to quality education and achievement for all children. Social stratification and hierarchies compound the problem of diversity. The challenge is to create spaces for children coming from diverse backgrounds within the formal school system through building an inclusive environment. This book is inspired by the children who, despite facing potentially overwhelming challenges, are not only surviving, but also thriving and growing into adulthood with a sense of excitement and hope.  The papers in this anthology relate to the idea of inclusion which encompasses issues of class, gender, caste, region and disability and their intersections, as part of its social fabric and also issues of educational opportunities, curriculum, classroom processes, pedagogy and evaluation, which comprise the educational process.
